1. Information we collect

  • Account and profile information, such as name, username, email address, telephone number where used, date of birth or age information, authentication identifiers, profile details, language, and settings.
  • Content and communications you provide, including posts, stories, photos, videos, audio, comments, reports, appeals, support requests, and message metadata. Encrypted chat content may be stored and transmitted as ciphertext; operational metadata such as participants, timestamps, delivery state, and key version may still be processed.
  • Location information you choose to provide or permit, including precise device location when a feature requires it, approximate or area-level location, selected locations, and location attached to public content.
  • Contacts or calendar information only when you deliberately grant the relevant permission and use a feature that needs it.
  • Device, log, network, usage, advertising, and diagnostic information, such as device and app identifiers, IP address, browser type, operating system, interactions, referral source, crash data, performance data, notification tokens, and consent choices.
  • Purchase and subscription status from Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or another payment provider. Niero does not receive full payment-card numbers from app-store purchases.

2. Sources of information

We receive information directly from you, automatically from your use of Niero, from other users who interact with you, from authentication and app-store providers, and from service providers that support hosting, analytics, attribution, safety, maps, messaging, and payments.

3. How we use information

  • Provide accounts, feeds, posts, profiles, messages, notifications, purchases, support, location-aware features, and other requested functionality.
  • Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce policies, investigate reports, protect rights and safety, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Operate, debug, measure, personalize, and improve Niero, including ranking and recommendation systems.
  • Communicate service, safety, policy, and account notices, and send marketing communications where permitted and subject to available choices.
  • Measure campaigns and attribution where you have provided any consent required by platform settings or applicable law.

4. Public content and social features

Public posts, usernames, profile information, comments, and engagement may be visible to other users and may be shared outside Niero. Your settings and the design of a feature determine its audience. Do not publish information you do not want that audience to copy, reshare, or retain.

5. When information is disclosed

  • Service providers process information for hosting and databases, authentication, cloud storage, messaging, crash reporting, analytics, attribution, maps, content tools, customer support, moderation, and payments. Current integrations may include Supabase, Firebase/Google, Apple, Meta, TikTok, Vercel, Mapbox, and RevenueCat depending on platform and consent.
  • Information may be disclosed to other users according to the feature and your settings; to rights holders through valid legal processes; to authorities or others when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights and safety; and in connection with a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Information submitted in copyright notices and counter-notices may be shared with the affected uploader or claimant, legal advisers, or authorities, and retained to process the claim, prevent abuse, enforce our repeat-infringer policy, and comply with law.
  • Niero does not sell personal information for money. Certain analytics or advertising disclosures may be considered “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a “sale” under some U.S. state laws even where no money changes hands. Applicable opt-out rights are described below.

6. Analytics, attribution, and tracking choices

  • The app may use Firebase Analytics and, where enabled and lawfully consented, Meta and TikTok event tools for measurement and attribution. The website uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights and may use limited first-party measurement.
  • Device and operating-system settings, including Apple App Tracking Transparency choices, may limit cross-app tracking. You may also contact support@niero.app to exercise an applicable opt-out right. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

7. Location controls

Location permissions are optional at the operating-system level, but some features will not work without them. You can change permissions in device settings. Public content may retain the area or location selected when it was posted until the content is edited or deleted, subject to retention needs described below.

8. Legal bases where required

Where laws such as the GDPR require a legal basis, we rely as appropriate on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, consent, and compliance with legal obligations. You may object to certain legitimate-interest processing or withdraw consent where those rights apply.

9. Retention and deletion

  • We retain account information while an account is active and for a limited period afterward where needed for security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, financial records, backups, or legal obligations.
  • Public content remains until deleted, removed, or the account is deleted, subject to backups, reshares, evidence preservation, and legal requirements. Reports and enforcement records may be retained longer to protect users and prevent repeat abuse.
  • Account deletion can be requested in the app or through support@niero.app. Deletion does not require us to remove information another user independently provided, de-identified information, or records we must or may lawfully retain.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. No system is completely secure. Users should protect their credentials and report suspected unauthorized access. Security descriptions are not a guarantee that every threat will be prevented.

11. Your privacy rights

  • Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or an explanation of certain processing, and may object to or opt out of targeted advertising, sale or sharing, profiling, or certain marketing.
  • Send requests to support@niero.app. We may verify your identity and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law. Authorized agents may submit requests where local law allows. You may appeal a denied request by replying to our decision.
  • You may complain to the privacy or data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.

12. Children and teenagers

Niero is not for children under 14 and does not knowingly allow them to maintain accounts. If we learn that an underage child provided personal information, we will take steps to remove the account and information as required. Teen users receive the protections described in our Child Safety Standards. Parents or guardians may report an underage account to support@niero.app.

13. International transfers

Niero is operated by a U.S. company and uses providers in multiple countries. Information may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, and apply mandatory local rights.

14. Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to support@niero.app.
